World Migratory Bird Day
In celebration of World Migratory Bird Day 2024, Mangrove Matters PH conducted an educational event at Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. The activity featured discussions on migratory waterbirds, mangrove conservation, and environmental protection, aiming to raise awareness among local communities and youth about the importance of protecting migratory birds and their habitats. The event was supported by the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) in collaboration with DENR Region 7 and Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary.

3rd Palarong Bakhawan
The 3rd Palarong Bakhawan brought together Filipino youth for a mangrove-focused quiz bee that promoted environmental literacy and conservation awareness. Held at the National Museum of Natural History, the initiative encouraged participants to deepen their knowledge of mangrove ecosystems while fostering youth engagement in coastal conservation efforts.

Coastal Greenbelts Exhibit at the National Museum of Natural History
Mangrove Matters PH supported the promotion of “Our Coastal Greenbelts, Our National Treasure”, an exhibit at the National Museum of Natural History that highlighted the importance of mangroves and coastal ecosystems in the Philippines. The initiative combined environmental education and policy advocacy, encouraging greater public appreciation and support for the protection of the country's coastal greenbelts.

Conservation Talks: Service of Mangroves in the Coastal Areas
The second episode of Conservation Talks featured Ramon Magsaysay Awardee and fisherfolk leader Robert Ballon, who discussed the ecological and socioeconomic benefits of mangrove ecosystems. The session promoted greater awareness of how mangroves support coastal livelihoods, strengthen community resilience, and contribute to sustainable coastal resource management.

International Representation and Mangrove Restoration Initiative
In 2024, Mangrove Matters PH successfully supported two youth delegates in attending international environmental conferences in China and Taiwan. The initiative also funded mangrove planting activities at the Siit Mangrove Ecopark in Siaton, Negros Oriental, demonstrating our commitment to both youth empowerment and ecosystem restoration.

Conservation Talks
The first Conservation Talks session of 2025 provided a platform for public discussion on the implications of the Supreme Court ruling concerning commercial fishing in municipal waters. Through expert insights and community-centered dialogue, the initiative promoted greater awareness of fisheries governance, coastal resource management, and the challenges faced by small-scale fishing communities.

First National Mangrove Youth Summit
The First National Mangrove Youth Summit brought together young environmental leaders from across the Philippines for a two-day learning and networking experience focused on mangrove conservation and coastal ecosystem protection. Organized by Mangrove Matters PH and partner organizations, the summit strengthened youth leadership, fostered collaboration among conservation advocates, and helped build a growing national network committed to protecting the country's blue carbon ecosystems.

Dear Mr President Campaign
The “Dear Mr. President” campaign mobilized citizens, organizations, and institutions across the Philippines to advocate for the National Coastal Greenbelt Bill. Conducted in partnership with Oceana Philippines, the initiative gathered letters of support calling for stronger protection of mangroves and beach forests, highlighting the importance of coastal ecosystems for community resilience, biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and climate action.

4th Palarong Bakhawan
The 4th Palarong Bakhawan brought together young Filipinos for an interactive environmental knowledge competition focused on mangrove ecosystems and coastal conservation. Conducted in partnership with Oceana and the Global Mangrove Alliance Philippines, the initiative promoted environmental literacy, youth engagement, and conservation advocacy through fun and educational participation.

Plog the Planet
In 2025, Mangrove Matters PH became a beneficiary of the Plog the Planet Parade Walk Run Philippines, a nationwide sustainability initiative that united fitness and environmental action. The event supported mangrove reforestation efforts at the Balaring Mangrove Ecopark in Silay City, Negros Occidental, while also contributing to educational and community programs across several coastal provinces in the Philippines.

Booth at SU-IEMS
In August 2025, Mangrove Matters PH conducted a policy advocacy campaign during the Silliman University Institute of Environmental and Marine Sciences Open House, engaging more than 700 participants in discussions on the proposed National Coastal Greenbelt Bill. The initiative promoted awareness of coastal ecosystem protection, climate resilience, and the importance of public support for stronger environmental legislation in the Philippines.

Usapang Bakhawan Eskwelahan
Usapang Bakawan Eskwelahan is Mangrove Matters PH's ongoing environmental education program that provides free webinars for schools, youth organizations, and community groups. Through interactive discussions on mangrove ecology, conservation challenges, and youth-led environmental action, the initiative promotes greater awareness and advocacy for the protection of Philippine mangrove ecosystems.

EAAFP MOP Side-event
During the 12th Meeting of Partners (MOP12) of the East Asian–Australasian Flyway Partnership, Mangrove Matters PH partnered with the EAAFP Youth Task Force to launch Flyway Friends: A Long Journey Home, a children's storybook authored and illustrated by Mary Queen Agdalipe. The initiative promoted awareness of migratory waterbirds, wetlands, and flyway conservation while highlighting the role of youth-led environmental education in biodiversity protection.

Donate a Mangrove Seedling
The Christmas Mangrove Seedling Donation Drive mobilized public support for mangrove restoration in Siaton, Negros Oriental. Implemented in partnership with the Siit-Palipinon Mangrove Conservation Walk (SiPaMaCoWa), the campaign funded the planting of mangrove seedlings in January 2026 and promoted greater awareness of the role of mangroves in climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and coastal protection.
