As part of its commitment to coastal conservation and environmental policy advocacy, Mangrove Matters PH actively supported awareness and engagement efforts for the proposed National Coastal Greenbelt (NCG) Bill.

On August 25, Leo Anthony C. Castro, Executive Director of Mangrove Matters PH, returned to the Silliman University Institute of Environmental and Marine Sciences (SU-IEMS) during its Open House event to host a non-profit advocacy booth focused on the importance of protecting the country's coastal ecosystems. The activity reached an audience of more than 700 students, professionals, and environmental advocates.

The initiative highlighted the role of the National Coastal Greenbelt Bill in safeguarding coastal communities, restoring mangrove and beach forest ecosystems, and strengthening climate resilience across the Philippines. Through educational discussions and public engagement, participants were encouraged to learn about the proposed legislation and contribute their voices in support of stronger coastal protection policies.

By bringing policy conversations directly to students and future environmental leaders, the activity demonstrated the importance of youth participation in shaping sustainable solutions for the country's coastal and marine environments.
