In celebration of youth engagement and environmental education, Mangrove Matters PH organized the 3rd Palarong Bakhawan: A Mangrove Quiz Bee in 2024, bringing together young Filipinos to learn about and advocate for mangrove conservation through friendly competition.
Held at the National Museum of Natural History in Manila, the event provided a platform for participants to demonstrate their knowledge of mangrove ecosystems, coastal biodiversity, climate resilience, and environmental stewardship. Through an interactive quiz bee format, the program encouraged learning while fostering greater appreciation for the ecological and social importance of mangroves in the Philippines.
Conducted in partnership with conservation organizations and environmental advocates, the initiative aimed to inspire youth participation in conservation efforts by making environmental education engaging, accessible, and rewarding. Participants were challenged to deepen their understanding of mangrove ecosystems while connecting with fellow young advocates who share a commitment to protecting the country's coastal resources.
As part of Mangrove Matters PH's ongoing environmental education programs, Palarong Bakhawan continues to serve as a creative avenue for raising awareness, strengthening environmental literacy, and empowering the next generation of conservation leaders.
