Coastal Greenbelts Exhibit at the National Museum of Natural History

In 2024, Mangrove Matters PH contributed to the promotion of the exhibit “Our Coastal Greenbelts, Our National Treasure” at the National Museum of Natural History in Manila. The exhibit served as a platform to raise public awareness about the importance of mangroves, beach forests, and other coastal greenbelt ecosystems in safeguarding the Philippines' coastlines and supporting biodiversity.

The showcase featured the scientific curation of Dr. Jurgenne H. Primavera, a leading mangrove scientist and conservation advocate, and highlighted the ecological, social, and economic significance of coastal greenbelts across the country. Through educational displays and public engagement activities, visitors were introduced to the critical role these ecosystems play in coastal protection, climate resilience, fisheries productivity, and biodiversity conservation.

The exhibit also served as an avenue for policy advocacy by encouraging public support for legislation aimed at strengthening the protection and management of Philippine coastal ecosystems. By bringing conservation science into a nationally recognized educational institution, the initiative helped bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, public awareness, and environmental action.

Through its participation in the exhibit, Mangrove Matters PH contributed to broader efforts to promote mangrove conservation, inspire environmental stewardship, and build support for long-term coastal ecosystem protection in the Philippines.
