Dear Mr President Campaign
The “Dear Mr. President” campaign mobilized citizens, organizations, and institutions across the Philippines to advocate for the National Coastal Greenbelt Bill. Conducted in partnership with Oceana Philippines, the initiative gathered letters of support calling for stronger protection of mangroves and beach forests, highlighting the importance of coastal ecosystems for community resilience, biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and climate action.

Mangrove Matters PH partnered with Oceana Philippines in the “Dear Mr. President” campaign, a nationwide advocacy initiative that mobilized individuals, organizations, institutions, and community groups to support the proposed National Coastal Greenbelt (NCG) Bill.
The campaign encouraged participants to write letters addressed to the President of the Philippines, expressing why mangroves and beach forests are important to their communities and calling for the certification of the NCG Bill as an urgent legislative priority. These letters were collected and delivered to Malacañang Palace as a demonstration of public support for stronger coastal protection measures.
The initiative highlighted the critical role of coastal greenbelts in safeguarding communities from storm surges and erosion, sustaining fisheries and marine biodiversity, supporting local livelihoods, and contributing to climate change mitigation. By amplifying voices from diverse sectors of society, the campaign sought to demonstrate broad public demand for policies that protect and restore the country's coastal ecosystems.
Through collective action and civic engagement, the “Dear Mr. President” campaign strengthened awareness of the National Coastal Greenbelt Bill and underscored the importance of citizen participation in advancing environmental legislation.
