In celebration of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem and the anniversary of Mangrove Matters PH, the organization successfully conducted the 4th Palarong Bakhawan, an environmental knowledge competition designed to engage Filipino youth in mangrove conservation.

Organized in partnership with Oceana and the Global Mangrove Alliance Philippines, the program provided a dynamic platform for young participants to test and expand their understanding of mangrove ecosystems, biodiversity, coastal protection, and environmental stewardship. Through friendly competition and interactive learning, the event encouraged participants to deepen their appreciation of the critical role mangroves play in sustaining both ecological and human communities.

Since its inception, Palarong Bakhawan has served as an innovative approach to environmental education by combining learning, engagement, and advocacy. The fourth edition continued this tradition by empowering youth to become informed champions of mangrove conservation while fostering a sense of responsibility toward protecting the Philippines' coastal ecosystems.

The initiative reflects Mangrove Matters PH's commitment to nurturing environmental leadership among young people and creating accessible opportunities for conservation learning through creative and participatory approaches.
