Leo Anthony C. Castro

Leo is a marine conservation biologist and co-founder of Mangrove Matters PH, where he serves as Executive Director. He leads youth-driven initiatives that advance mangrove conservation through science communication, youth engagement, and policy advocacy. He also serves as Communications Lead for the Global Mangrove Alliance Philippines, strengthening collaboration and public engagement. A vocal advocate for the proposed National Coastal Greenbelt Act, Leo mobilizes the youth to support its passage while championing the rights of small-scale fisherfolk. For over five years, he has led projects that promote the welfare of coastal ecosystems and communities. He is also a compassionate animal lover.
