Thirty Young Leaders to Champion Mangrove Conservation at the First National Mangrove Youth Summit

Parañaque City, Philippines – Thirty inspiring young leaders from across the Philippines have been selected to participate in the First National Mangrove Youth Summit, set to take place on March 24-25, 2025, at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park.

The summit aims to empower youth advocates by deepening their understanding of mangrove ecosystems and equipping them with the tools to create impactful campaign plans for mangrove conservation with an output of establishing a youth network. The event will feature a diverse lineup of speakers and panelists who will share unique perspectives and insights on protecting this vital ecosystem.
Organized by Mangrove Matters PH, in collaboration with Oceana Philippines, Wetlands International Philippines, One Pawikan Initiative, Global Mangrove Alliance, and Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, the summit underscores the importance of youth engagement in environmental conservation.
Out of 192 applicants, the 30 delegates coming from 16 regions were carefully chosen based on their background, demonstrated commitment to conservation, and the strength of their submitted essay. These young leaders represent the next generation of environmental stewards, ready to take action to safeguard the Philippines' mangrove ecosystems.
